The quartet is making $$$$$!!!! The weiners and I have accumulated about $800 by singing for two choruses at their rehearsals: the San Diego Sweet Adelines and tonite the Palomar Pacific Chorus. We also got $200 from the Sun Harbor show and we're getting $400 for this weekend's Rancho Bernardo Chorus show. This means that the trip to Louisville will be paid for, which is a good thing, since I'm poor. See more of the weiners at:

The Adventures of Rafiki the Trainer

So, I had to go to traffic school this weekend. Usually traffic school entails hours of learning the laws you already know, worksheets and rhetorical questions to make you feel as if you've committed a cardinal sin for changing lanes unsafely, and if you're lucky, the latest version of "Red Asphalt." No such chance here. But having to spend 16 hours over the course of the entire weekend, I found the experience to be...interesting, to say the least.
The most interesting person was the instructor, an easygoing middle-aged man originally from Kenya, Africa. He was raised in a culture where one wife goes for 20 cows, 30 sheep and 100 chickens. Also included in the class were an Arab grad student, a 'too cool for school' bad boy, a lady who is often mistaken as a man, a Somalian cab driver, an ex-Army go-getter, an average white male grocery store owner, a Russian Cab driver and his translating son, a Lakeside redneck construction worker, ME, a Persian Real Estate apprentice, a Sports Nut Brotha, and a lanky teenager.
The class was sort of a combination of Anger Management (Gooooooooosfraba!!), AA, and a self esteem workshop. We discussed traffic rules the last 15 minutes of the entire class.
Well, that about does it for my first entry. No matter how hard you try, you just can't make traffic school interesting. Just picture a cross between the personality qwerks in "The Breakfast Club" mixed with the monotony of "Titanic" or any Mel Gibson epic, along with a friendly, polite philisophical Mandrill from "The Lion King."
